DESCRITPION
This set fits to all the 2017 to 2022 Cabrinha bars, handy if you have a bar with a Quickloop (chickenloop) and you want to try out the Fireball system.
The premise of Fireball is that it allows smooth, unhindered movement in multiple planes of motion while eliminating 50% of the forces that your body is subjected to when you’re out kiting. It also brings your control bar slightly closer to you (there are three different lengths of Fireball for longer or shorter armed riders), which gives you greater control of your kite and easier access to the safety system. It’s compatible only with an NP spreader bar, specially designed to work with Fireball, that’s easy to hook into (if requiring slightly more concentration than a regular chicken loop) and the Autolock bungee clip secures it in place. The safety system is operated in the same way that any push-away system is triggered, the swivel to untwist your lines just above Fireball is the same (but closer) and it’s only really once you get below the release system that things are any different.
One key thing to note here however about the release system is that it’s really, really simple to put back together! Simply replace the pin and then pull down the orange push-away tab. It’s very clean and there are no obstructions to stop the safety line flagging freely.
At first, when riding in a straight line, you don’t notice anything different about the new system in the way it feels but, as soon you start to twist your torso against the kite, Fireball comes into play. When riding toeside or when rotating underneath the kite there’s no restriction on your movement and you can move fluidly with a constant connection to the kite and its forces. This feels great for freeriding, but is also something that will really appeal to wave riders who want to be able to ride a wave and throw their shoulders into the turn without being hindered and dragged off axis by the pull of the kite.
Fireball offers up is an improved user experience that will, for most people, increase the enjoyment of your session while doing away with some elements of kiteboarding which aren’t that pleasant – like having your harness constantly moving back and forth on your hips or having a spreader bar push into your hips. Perhaps you don’t experience any of this at present, in which case, you probably can’t see much benefit in the system, but it is a very neat development.
Fireball is a brave break from the norm and you’ll need to try it to experience the benefits for yourself and then decide whether or not this particular innovation is one you’d like to invest in. For our money though, with the exception of dedicated freestyle riders, the Fireball system has a great deal to offer in terms of a generally improved riding experience.
Another plus point is that your friends can’t borrow your kite without asking you when you leave it on the beach and head in for lunch if they don’t have the correct spreader bar! On top of that, the Fireball four line bar will work with four line kites from other brands.
TO INSTALL
The system can easily be installed if you follow these 3 steps. Step 1: Loosen the screw in the swivel. Step 2: remove the metal ring from the safety line that runs through the chicken loop. Step 3: loosen the Quickloop or Fireball and pull out the safety line. Now you can assemble the new Fireball or Quickloop, make surer you pull the safety through it and attach the ring again! If you need help, let us know.
